Books to Read
For all of those whom may not know, October is National Reading Group Month. I chose to combine my three favorite things; reading, writing and connecting with others.
In honor of National Reading Month, I would like to showcase to you 8 terrific authors and their books. I am excited to bring you a nice range of books regarding different topics. Each of these authors I have had the wonderful opportunity to work with and am thrilled to share their books with you.
You have the opportunity for the month of October to download a piece of their book (book excerpt or 1 chapter) and if you so chose, you can click on the Buy Book link which will take you to Amazon (or their website) to purchase the book.
Also, throughout the month, I will be adding interviews with some of the authors to allow you more insight into their books, writing and the publishing world.

Rock Star Mommy:

Rock Star Mommy is a rallying cry for every woman who fondly recalls when she spent more time in mosh pits than “Mommy and Me” classes. From the moment Judy Davids donned a pair of go-go boots and jumped onstage, she embarked on an unforgettable journey. Rock Star Mommy chronicles Davids’ experiences as a music fan, a mother, and the leader of the Mydols—one of the first “mommy” rock bands in the country.
If you’ve ever had the urge to grab a guitar, dye your hair pink, and turn your minivan into a makeshift tour bus, you’ll find a kindred spirit in Judy Davids. Rock Star Mommy is the perfect companion for any mom who’s ever wanted to raise good kids—and raise a little hell at the same time.

A Country Kitchen Cookbook:

Imagine sitting around the table without the TV on, while talking, sharing, learning, and laughing. Create memories that will last a life time. When you are old and your children are grown you will not regret the time spent together around the dinner table. Back to the Table is dedicated to help you save money, prepare easy meals, help your family slow down, and spend at least thirty quality minutes together every day.
Statistics show that the families who eat together just once a day have children who have better communication skills, receive better grades in school, and teenagers who experience fewer eating disorders and are involved in less sexual activity and drug use. Consider the benefits of teaching your children to cook. Meal time can be a family affair, one that is enjoyable and satisfying for all. Many young adults leave home today without knowing how to cook or plan a meal. Allow your children to experience for themselves how wonderful it feels to prepare a meal and watch their guests enjoy it. It’s always gratifying when you pass family recipes and traditions to the next generation.
The Back to the Table series will help you re-discover the joy of implementing these traditions. These cookbooks will help you teach your family to plan meals, cook, and enjoy the process. Keep an eye out; the next cookbook will be available before you know it!
I would love to hear what your favorite recipes are and how Back to the Table has impacted your life. From my kitchen table to yours, may God bless you and fill you with happiness, love, and joy!
Happy Cooking,
Betty Lynch

How Do I Tell the Kids about the Divorce? A Create-a-Storybook Guide to Preparing Your Children — with Love!

Divorce may be tough on parents, but it’s even tougher on children. One of the most difficult conversations any parent will ever have is telling their children about an upcoming separation or divorce. Rosalind Sedacca, CCT, had that conversation more than a decade ago and used it as the basis for her new book, How Do I Tell the Kids about the Divorce? A Create-a-Storybook™ Guide to Preparing Your Children – with Love!
Unlike other books on children and divorce, Rosalind’s innovative new book provides customizable templates that don’t just tell you what to say — they say it for you! Rosalind guides you in preparing an attractive personal family storybook, in a photo-album-type format, that children will want to read and reread. The fill-in-the-blank templates talk about the family’s past, present and future, reminding children that change, while often frightening, is a natural part of life. Using age-appropriate language (for ages 5 to 15), the text conveys the six key messages parents need to share – and children need to hear, understand and accept.
The book also includes commentary and support from six therapists who share keen advice, based on their professional experience, which parents can immediately put to use.
Divorce attorneys, therapists, mediators, educators, coaches and other professionals throughout the U.S. and beyond are enthusiastically endorsing and recommending this new book to their clients. Many of these endorsements can be seen at http://howdoitellthekids.com.
How Do I Tell the Kids about the Divorce? A Create-a-Storybook™ Guide to Preparing Your Children — with Love! is available online as a downloadable ebook. It can also be purchased as a book-on-CD directly from attorneys, mediators, therapists and other divorce professionals.
